Second Chances

Lori Bee shares some second chances she’s had recently at life, love, career and home ownership.

So I have been more than a bit absent here lately on this blog.   SO much has happened, and I haven’t had time to post. I’ll abbreviate it all quite a bit.

So I was promoted back in April to become the Assistant State Administrative Broker for eXp Realty.   Very honored to serve in that position, when suddenly in early May, my beloved boss and State Broker, Jim Girard, announced his retirement.   And then in June I was hired to be his replacement as the State Administrative Broker for eXp.  What a whirlwind!

As if the transition paperwork of 15 local REALTOR boards and 16 MLS’s across South Carolina wasn’t enough,  on June 15th, Joe and I managed to finally close on the home of our dreams and change our address.  We now live in a Morton Residential Barn Home in rural Jasper County closer to Savannah, and are loving it. But this move, in this heat with all the work, has not been fun.  I just keep reminding myself, just how truly blessed I am to have all these Second Chances, with love and life.   Hence why we refer to our mini-farm as Second Chance Farm.

I’m reminded of that quote from Ferris Bueller: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”   I keep asking Joe to pinch me to prove it’s all happening.  So many dreams coming true…

I am currently only doing real estate sales and listings on a very limited basis, BUT I now manage  400+ excellent agents who can assist you all across the Palmetto state.  I am happy to place your referral in the best hands, so please give me a call at 843-505-3132 so I can assist you.  I love making dreams come true!

P.S.  Some people to thank for a lot of these life changes:

  • First of all, my beloved Joe who I plan to rock that rocking chair for life with
  • My children Jacob & Hannah – who inspire their Momma to never give up
  • Joanie Horton – former owner, who knew this place was meant to be ours
  • Thomas Kersey – wonderful Listing Agent who was so helpful
  • Bannon Law Group – for a smooth closing
  • Homeside Financial – esp Christa Jensen & Stacy Kimrey who made this dream come true when everyone else said it was impossible
  • Jim Girard – my career mentor and always will be
  • Glenn Sanford – dear friend & founder of eXp, the model revolutionizing real estate
  • Our SC eXp Agents – love y’all and enjoying this ride with you
  • Bill Martini and Veteran Movers – you should check them out if you are local
  • Joseph Terry – for all of your physical help during this horrendous heat
  • Patti McEwin – for being my neighbor, confidant and screen repair buddy
  • Darlene Dudley – for providing us our temporary home the last 2 yrs
  • All of our family & friends – for your support and congrats

Put Your Love into Action

How are you going to put your love in action for Hurricane Harvey victims?

We saw love in action, here last fall in the lowcountry after Hurricane Matthew.  My headline photo for this blog post is from my beloved Bluffton.  We went thru quite a lot together last October and in the following months. And this graphic on the side of an old building in our historic sea village,  still remains a symbol of us coming together and being strong for one another. Loving one another.

And I just knew I had to be strong and be involved with helping however I could when I saw Hurricane Harvey looming off the Texas shoreline.  I don’t want anyone to feel alone.  I want them to feel loved and know that we will take care of each other.

So I’ve been busy.  I volunteered to help eXp agents affected by Hurricane Harvey.  I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am, for an awesome team of colleagues and staff who are doing such an amazing job.  I am proud to be a part of such an amazing group of people.

Especially seeing some of our agents, like George Huntoon and Sondra Richard, amongst others, going out and coordinating/conducting rescues…..

Just wow! The whole “Cajun Navy” has been doing remarkable things, and George and Sondra are love in action!  eXp will do whatever we can with the amazing resources our staff and fellow agents have, to help them show this amazing love across Texas and Louisiana.

And then tonight,  I saw this:

I sobbed. Didn’t you?  We’ve been so divided as a country in the last year or so.  Some would argue a hundred  years or more.

But it is so true.  We need to see love.  We need to recognize love.  And that comes in all colors.  Our country is amazing.  We need to see that too.  Let’s join together to do great things to help one another.

If you care to help eXp agents; some of whom have lost a little, some who have lost everything, and all will lose a lot of business over the coming months to years due to their commission based income, please consider giving to our corporate eXp Go Fund Me Hurricane Harvey account.    Or give to the charity of your choice doing good things and showing love.

Put your love into action.  Thank you.

Wire Fraud Warning Disclosure Form

Lori Bee provides real estate cyber crime info and wire fraud warning disclosure form for her SC realty clients.

It’s important to use an agent who is staying “on top of things”  and protecting you throughout the transaction.   I pride myself in providing that service and keeping my clients updated.

One recent development in our industry is cyber hacking combined with wire fraud.  In order to protect our clients from falling victim to this malicious crime that can devastate all parties in a real estate transaction, the South Carolina Association of Realtors, along with the South Carolina Real Estate Commission have created this form: Wire Fraud Warning Disclosure

Please read thoroughly, keep your anti-virus and malware up to date, and call to verify any request for funds.   My phone number is 843-505-3132.   I am happy to be of service.

Dreaming of Daufuskie?

Doesn’t this video help you dream of Daufuskie Island and Haig Point Club? Well I can help you make that dream a reality!

There’s something about a trip to Daufuskie that takes you on a trip back in time, and to a quieter way of life. The only way to get to Daufuskie is by boat or by ferrry. Haig Point has it’s own ferry service available for residents and guests, and the rest of the island is serviced by various ferry and charter services. Very few cars are permitted on the island (outside of Haig Point) and the primary mode of transportation is by golf cart. So yes, it is a little difficult getting here but oh so worth the effort.

The 8 square miles of Daufuskie Island hold a wealth of history, pristine golf courses, sparsely occupied beaches, artistic & culinary surprises, and friendly people. There is also an Equestrian Center, a an artisan village, farm & community garden, a marina if you happen to have your own boat, and a lighthouse you can actually rent for a weekend or special event.

I am happy to arrange a Discovery Experience for you on Daufuskie Island to find out if you’d like a piece of paradise here. In the meantime, here are the current listings for Daufuskie Island. Contact me at 843.505.3132 or email me to arrange your personal tour of homes.

Taking Care of Our Precious May River and Bluffton

Taking care of beloved May River and surrounding Bluffton, in honor of Earth Day 2016.

This morning I spent a few hours giving back to something that gives me so much joy, our precious May River, and surrounding Bluffton.  A guestimate of 150 volunteers or so, went by boat, by kayak and by foot, in and around our beloved May, and hit the surrounding streets picking up trash, to keep our river and town, clean.

It’s kind of dismaying that I picked up so much trash.  Especially recyclables that can be re-utilized.   But it also felt awesome, that I am a part of a community that gets together to make a difference.

Here are a few pictures from the event, the new Oyster Factory docks, and some things I noticed while walking around Bluffton, that I never seem to pay attention to when I’m driving.

Slow down a little.  Admire our town.  Take care of her and our May River.   And please don’t litter.  It’s just plain gross. Thanks!
